Parent-Teacher Conferences
Partnering for a better, brighter future for all our students
Parent-Teacher Conferences at George Westinghouse CTE High School are designed to boost family involvement in their child's education and help promote positive outcomes for each learner.
At the conferences, we will share any number of pieces of information including academic progress and growth based on classroom observations, testing data, assessments, portfolios, and assignments. Our goal is to help families become better informed about students' strengths, needs, behaviors, and learning styles. It is also an opportunity to discuss enrichment or intervention strategies, as well as any issues that may be interfering with their child's learning and growth
Finally, it is also an opportunity to learn from the expert on the child: the family! We want to obtain information families can offer that will support our educators in providing their child with an unparalleled learning experience that is both individualized and personalized.
We look forward to meeting you at our next conference.

Suggestions for Before the Conference
Ask your child how she feels about school.
Ask your child if there is anything that he wants you to talk about with his teacher.
Tell your child that you and the teacher are meeting to help her.
Make a list of topics that you want to talk about with the teacher.
Prepare a list of questions such as:
- What are my child's areas of strength and challenges?
- Does my child hand classwork and/or homework in on time?
- How does my child participate in class?
- Does my child seem happy, or well adapted at school?
- What can I do at home to support my child in your class?
- How do you see their use of technology impacting their learning?
Suggestions for During the Conference
- Be on time (or early) for the meeting (we will open the Zoom call at least 10 minutes prior to start)
- End the meeting on time. Other parents will probably have a conference after yours.
- Relax and be yourself.
- Stay calm during the conference.
- Ask the most important questions first.
- If your child receives special services such as English classes, ask about your child's progress in those classes.
- Ask for explanations of anything you don't understand
- Ask your child's teacher for ways that you can help your child at home.
- Thank the teacher.
